Privacy
HomeRunner stores what you put into it about your home, so that the people in your household can see it too. Here is what that means in practice.
What is stored
The things you add: items, their photos and specs, manuals and other documents, instructions, tasks, and the history of work done. Your account's email address or Apple ID, and your name if you choose to share it through Sign in with Apple, which the people in your household see. The household you belong to, with its name and, if an owner adds one, its street address. Where you keep the water, gas, and electrical shutoffs, with the photos you took of them.
Where it lives
On your phone first, so it works with no signal. A copy is kept on our servers so it can be shared with your household and restored on a new phone. Photos and documents are stored privately; only members of your household can read them.
What leaves your phone
When you read a rating plate or identify equipment from a photo, that photo and the item's name are sent to our server and to Anthropic to be read. When you search for a manual online, the make, model, name, and category are sent to our server and to Anthropic, which searches the web and the manufacturer's site. When you scan a receipt or work order, that photo and the item's name are sent to our server and to Anthropic to be read; a receipt can carry a name, an address, or the last digits of a card, so photograph only what you want in your home's history, and when a manual's schedule is pulled, the manual's pages are sent the same way. Sign-in email goes out through our email provider, Sign in with Apple goes through Apple, and Google sign-in goes through Google; each tells us your email address and, if you share it, your name. Feedback you send from the app reaches our help inbox through that email provider, with your account email, your households' names, the app version, and the kind of phone, so we can answer; it goes with your account when you delete it. If the app crashes, a report goes to Sentry, our crash-reporting service: the error, the screen it happened on, the app version, details of the phone and its state (model, operating system, memory, battery), the last few screens and log lines (never what you typed), and your account id, or a random install id when you are signed out. Each time the app starts it also tells Sentry the app version and that id, so we can see what share of starts end in a crash. Never your email, your photos, or anything about your home. To learn which parts of the app get used and whether people come back, the app also sends PostHog, our analytics service, a short list of named moments, such as an item being added, a manual found, a task completed, or the binder made, each with the app version, the kind of phone, and your account id or a random id before you sign in, and the home's id so counts can be per home. These carry no names, notes, photos, or anything else you typed; the app records no taps, screens, or locations. Nothing else about your home is sent to anyone.
Paying
Subscriptions are bought through the App Store or Google Play, which handle the payment; we never see your card. RevenueCat, the service that keeps track of subscriptions for us, receives the household's id and the purchase record from the store, and tells our server whether the home is subscribed and until when. Nothing about the contents of your home goes to either.
This website
The website counts visits through Cloudflare, without cookies and without identifying anyone: the page, the page that linked to it, and the kind of browser, nothing more.
What we do not do
We do not sell or share your information, show advertising, or track you across other sites and apps.
Leaving
You can leave a household from the app; if you were the last person in it, the household and everything in it is deleted. To delete your account, open Household & account in the app and choose Delete account: your account and sign-in go at once, a home you were alone in is deleted with everything in it, and a home you shared stays with the others. Files are removed within a day. If you cannot get into the app, email [email protected] from the address on the account.
