Every appliance manual, found for you and kept with the thing it belongs to.
HomeRunner is a home-management app for iPhone and Android. Point it at the rating plate on a furnace, a water heater, or a dishwasher, and it reads the make and model, searches the manufacturer's site, and saves the right manual to that item. The manual is then readable offline and searchable by page, on every phone in the household.
Coming soon to the App Store.
The problem it solves
Manuals arrive on paper and end up in a drawer, or they never arrive at all because the previous owner kept them. When the water heater starts making a noise, you are typing a model number into a search engine and sorting through PDF mirrors to find the one page that says what the noise means. HomeRunner does that search once, keeps the result, and puts it a tap away from the item itself.
How it works
- Read the plate. Open the camera on the rating plate. The make, model, and serial number are read into the item's specs. No plate in sight? A photo of the appliance is enough to identify it.
- Find the manual. Tap Find the manual. HomeRunner searches the web and the manufacturer's own site for that model, including variants and parent brands, and saves the user's manual to the item. If it picked the wrong one, say so and choose another of the ones it found.
- Add your own. Already have the PDF, or a scan of the installation guide? Add it to the item from your files.
- Search inside it. A manual with a text layer is read page by page, so a search for "error code E24" or "descale" finds the page across all the manuals in your home.
- Let the manual set the schedule. Pull the maintenance schedule out of the manual: every job it names, how often, and the page it is on, ticked to add to the item's tasks.
Works offline, and on everyone's phone
Saved manuals are kept on the phone, so they open in the basement with no signal. Everyone who shares the home sees the same manuals, and a QR label on the appliance opens its manual on any member's phone that scans it.
What it covers
Furnaces and air conditioners, water heaters, washers and dryers, dishwashers, ranges and ovens, refrigerators, garage door openers, water softeners, pool and spa equipment, lawn equipment, generators, thermostats, and anything else with a model number. For things without one, HomeRunner still keeps the photo, the specs you type, and the documents you add.
A maintenance schedule that runs itself
Filters, flushes, and inspections on their own dates, with reminders.
A home inventory and binder
Every item with its cost, warranty, and history, in one PDF when you need it.
Shared with the household
One home, everyone's phone, and the contacts who service it.
Free for a month, then one price for the whole home
Every home starts with a free month of everything. After that it is $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year, and one subscription covers everyone who shares the home, however many phones that is.
